Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 September 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms apply to locksmith services provided by Emergency Locksmith Waterford, contactable on 051 575 008 and at info@emergencylocksmithwaterford.com, operating from Waterford City, Co. Waterford, Ireland. By booking work with us, whether by phone, email or the website form, you agree to these terms.
We are licensed by the Private Security Authority (PSA) as required for locksmith activity in Ireland, and we hold public liability insurance. We will show evidence of both on request before starting work.
2. Services we provide
We provide the following services across Waterford City and county:
- Emergency Lockout
- Car Lockout / Auto Locksmith
- Lock Repair & Replacement
- UPVC Door Lock Repair
- Anti-Snap / High-Security Locks
- Broken Key Extraction
- Burglary / Break-In Lock Repair
- Commercial Locksmith Waterford
- Key Cutting / Spare Keys
Availability of a specific service for your particular door, lock, premises or vehicle is confirmed when you contact us. Where a job falls outside what we can do, we will tell you rather than attempt it.
3. Quotations and pricing
- We give a price before travelling, based on the information you provide about the job, the property or vehicle, and the time of day.
- That price is what you pay for the job as described. After-hours, weekend and bank holiday surcharges, where they apply, are stated to you before we travel.
- If the job on arrival is materially different from what was described — for example a forced frame, a seized high-security lock, or a different lock type — we will stop, explain the position, and give you a revised price. You may decline at that point, in which case only an agreed call-out charge is payable.
- Prices quoted are in euro. Repair and maintenance work in Ireland generally attracts the reduced 13.5% VAT rate; we will tell you whether VAT is included in the figure you are given.
- Guide prices published on our website are indicative ranges, not binding quotations.
4. Appointments, access and identity verification
- You must be present, or arrange for an authorised adult to be present, to give us access.
- Before opening any property or vehicle, we will ask you to demonstrate that you are entitled to enter it. This normally means photo identification plus something linking you to the address or vehicle, such as a utility bill, tenancy agreement, mortgage document or vehicle registration paperwork. This is a standard and necessary safeguard in the locksmith trade: it protects occupants, owners and tenants from unauthorised entry.
- If satisfactory evidence cannot be provided, we reserve the right to refuse to carry out the work. An agreed call-out charge may still apply where we have already travelled.
- Arrival times given are good-faith estimates based on distance, traffic and current workload. They are not guaranteed, and we will keep you informed if anything changes.
5. Carrying out the work
- We attempt non-destructive entry wherever it is technically possible. Some locks — seized cylinders, certain high-security or damaged locks — cannot be opened non-destructively. Where drilling or another destructive method is unavoidable, we will explain it and the cost of any replacement before proceeding.
- Where a property or vehicle has pre-existing damage, wear or defects, we will point it out before starting where practical.
- You are responsible for confirming that any lock or hardware you specifically request meets the requirements of your insurer, landlord or management company. We are happy to advise on recognised standards such as BS 3621 and IS EN 1303, but the final choice is yours.
6. Payment
- Payment is due on completion of the work unless we have agreed different terms with you in writing.
- We accept cash, credit card and debit card.
- A receipt is issued for every job, and a written record of work is available on request.
- For commercial accounts with agreed credit terms, invoices are payable within the period stated on the invoice. Overdue amounts may attract interest and recovery costs under the European Communities (Late Payment in Commercial Transactions) Regulations.
7. Guarantee and warranties
- All labour carries a minimum 12-month guarantee. If work we carried out fails within that period because of our workmanship, we will return and put it right at no labour cost.
- Hardware we supply carries the manufacturer's warranty in addition to our labour guarantee.
- The guarantee does not cover subsequent damage, forced entry, misuse, third-party interference with our work, normal wear, or faults arising from other defects in the door, frame or vehicle that we advised you about at the time.
- Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish and EU consumer protection law.
8. Cancellation
- You may cancel a non-emergency booking at any time before we travel at no cost. Once we are en route, an agreed call-out charge may apply.
- For scheduled (non-emergency) work arranged at a distance, consumers normally have a 14-day right to cancel under the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013. Where you ask us to begin emergency work inside that period, you may be required to pay for work already carried out.
- Emergency call-outs are, by their nature, requested for immediate performance and are treated accordingly.
9. Liability
- We carry public liability insurance and accept responsibility for loss or damage caused by our negligence.
- We are not liable for damage arising from pre-existing defects in a door, frame, mechanism or vehicle, or from destructive entry that you authorised after being advised of the consequences.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost income or missed appointments arising from an arrival time estimate.
- Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, tell us as soon as possible on 051 575 008 or at info@emergencylocksmithwaterford.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 10 working days, keeping you updated if it takes longer. If we cannot resolve it between us, you may refer the matter to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, or to the Private Security Authority where it concerns licensed locksmith activity.

The content of this website, including text, images, layout and branding, is the property of Emergency Locksmith Waterford and may not be reproduced without permission.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the date of your booking is the version that applies to your job.
